Summer Solstice

A poem from a dear friend, Anne Kathleen McLaughlin. Perhaps you will be inspired to pen your own reflections as we once again shift the light.

Winter Solstice Sunrise… six months past…
Struck fire in December’s snow.
The light spread, claimed morning‘s sky sooner,
Evening’s sky longer… until today,
Sun’s triumph… Summer Solstice.

Tomorrow the long slow return to darkness begins…
But today I stand in sunfire, breathe in power,
Enough to sustain me for the days ahead,
Inner fire to light my writing, my loving, my joyous dance
As outer fire recedes, as darkness swells to fullness,
As I learn once more to fall in love with stars.
